CBD and Blood Pressure: What's the scoop?
CBD and blood pressure has been linked in recent research with the many benefits for the heart and circulatory system, most notably the ability to lower high blood pressure.
Some higher risk conditions that high blood pressure is linked to includes, stroke, heart attack, and metabolic syndrome. Studies indicate that CBD may be able to help with high blood pressure. One recent study treated nine healthy men with one dose of 600 mg of CBD oil and found it reduced resting blood pressure, compared to a placebo.
In that same study, researchers gave the men specific stress testing that is used to increase their blood pressure. The single dose of CBD that was given, led the men to experience a smaller blood pressure increase than a typical response to the same type of test. The main reason that researchers believe causes CBD to help lower blood pressure is that CBD helps reduce stress and anxiety levels. Additionally, several animal studies have demonstrated that CBD may help reduce the inflammation and cell death associated with heart disease due to its powerful antioxidant and stress-reducing properties.
One study that was done on mice showed that treatment with CBD reduced oxidative stress and prevented heart damage in diabetic mice with heart disease.
Hypertension Treatment
Hypertension is just another word and medical term for high blood pressure. Blood is pumped through your blood vessels and as it goes, it undergoes a degree of force. If you have high blood pressure, this force can damage the walls of your blood vessels, veins and arteries.
Some of the main complications high blood pressure can lead to includes heart disease, heart attack, stroke, aneurysm and heart failure. The condition is exacerbated by type 2 diabetes, stress, anxiety, inflammation, insomnia, a diet high in salt, and alcohol and tobacco use.
How to lower High Blood Pressure: CBD and Blood Pressure
In order to lower high blood pressure naturally, you need to reduce stress, your salt intake, and your intake of alcohol and tobacco. Exercise and a proper diet are also magnificent ways to help lower your high blood pressure.
If you see your doctor, he or she may prescribe you medications that can lower high blood pressure. Prescription medications like the ones used for high blood pressure, come with side effects such as headaches, dizziness, constipation, and swollen ankles.
New research is being conducted every day in regards to CBD, and some of it is linking CBD and blood pressure. For many people, CBD oil has fewer side effects, if any at all, than prescription medications.
If you are someone who currently uses medications for high blood pressure, consult your doctor before using CBD oil to see if its the right match for you.
Does CBD and Blood Pressure result in lower levels?
We now know high blood pressure can be caused by a number of factors, and CBD Capsules can lower high blood pressure caused by stress and anxiety. When our emotional or physical stress is high, our bodies release a hormone called cortisol. High levels of cortisol can raise blood pressure. CBD can lower high blood pressure by dilating your blood vessels, and allowing more blood flow, leading to lower blood pressure in the end.
What’s The Best Dosage for CBD and Blood Pressure?
There is no official dosage recommendation for retail CBD because the FDA hasn't approved or moved forward with regulation of it. The right dosage depends on the recipient and their specific body and genetics. It's always best to start low and go slow to find your personal sweet spot.
More research is needed to understand the depths of dosing and how we can maximize our therapeutic usage of CBD. Finding optimal dosage routines can be very beneficial to many people suffering from a wide array of conditions.
In one study conducted in 2018, 300 mg of CBD was administered to patients and that seemed to be the most effective dosage for reducing anxiety in a simulated public speaking study. When the 300 mg patients were stacked up against patients who took 150 mg and 600 mg, they did not see the same benefits. But there has been studies showing blood pressure was effectively lowered with a single dose of 600 mg.
Start low and go slow. One way to determine how effective a dosage of CBD will be for you is to start small and frequently check your blood pressure. Keep note of the dosage that you took and the time in which you took it, along with the reading.
With trial and error, you will eventually get a clear picture of what dosage is best for you achieving a lower blood pressure reading. CBD and blood pressure supplements may help reduce use of medications. CBD may not be a replacement for exercise and a healthy diet, but it is nice to know you might be able to lower your blood pressure with a nice dosage.
